Window Ruler

Even if you can appreciate the approximate dimensions of a window or another element, just by looking at it, certain projects, like developing a website, require more precision. In situations like this, you can use Window Ruler to accurately measure a window or other components of that window. The application allows you to measure in points, pixels, inches and other measuring units.

Window Ruler is offered free of charge and it can be installed in a few seconds. It works on all popular Windows platforms and it provides support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems. Besides that, you won't have to meet any special requirements before running the application.

When launched, the application will display two perpendicular rulers on your screen. You can move both rulers at the same time and resize them individually. The application's functionality should be obvious. All you have to do is place the rulers over a window or another element which you wish to measure. Together with two dotted lines, the rulers form a rectangle, which make it easier to measure something on the screen.

A faster way to measure something is to click and drag a red dot, located on the rulers, over a window or a certain component of that window. This will automatically snap the rulers to the targeted object. Right clicking the ruler or the application's system tray icon will reveal a series of options for setting a different measuring unit and for resizing the rulers. You can also use the rulers as a grabber, to take snapshots of the screen or part of it.
